Play Strategy
What is the Play Strategy?
The Play Strategy is a detailed plan showing how we are working to improve local play areas and outdoor youth facilities such as skate parks, youth shelters and multi-use games areas.
The Strategy is for Cheshire West and Chester as a whole, not just the Council. It shows how, by working together, all partners can help to provide better play and outdoor youth facilities for our children and young people. Key partners include the town and parish councils, local housing associations and the voluntary sector.
The Play Strategy supports national strategies while placing the needs and aspirations of local people at its core. It places the development of local play facilities in the wider regional and national context.
The strategy has been developed in a financial environment of reducing local authority budgets. It recognises that future planning for play improvements need to be realistic, achievable and sustainable. This means making the most of capital expenditure and minimising revenue and maintenance costs.
The Cheshire West and Chester Play Strategy is made up of two parts:

The Total Environment team carry out project, planning and advisory work, with the aim of creating a better environment for the residents of and visitors to Cheshire West and Chester. We work closely with external organisations such as Mersey Forest, Historic England, Cheshire Wildlife Trust and Natural England.
