Specialist Support

Adult Safeguarding Unit

The unit works with people to investigate safeguarding concerns about any paid carer or member of staff. The team makes enquiries and ensures the appropriate support is in place to keep people safe in services.

Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team

The team is responsible for undertaking Best Interest Assessments and coordinating the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) process and the Court of Protection Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (CoPDoLS) process. They manage all referrals and assessments for DoLS for adults in Cheshire West and Chester who are identified as lacking the capacity to decide if they should stay in a care home or hospital where it may be lead to a Deprivation of their liberty. Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Hub.

 The team ensures that we can undertake assessments under the Mental Health Act 1882 in a timely and appropriate manner to determine if somebody is in need of formal or informal admission to a specialist mental health hospital. They also make recommendations relating to Community Treatment Orders and are involved in decisions concerning Guardianship orders. Adults Transition and Autism Team

The Adults Transition Team and the Autism Team work with young people as they move from children’s services into adult support. They work with children into adulthood between 14-25. The team, work with young people with a physical disability, learning disability or Autism. They undertake Care Act Assessments for young people with a learning disability and/or Autism and their carers if needed.
