Thursday 19 June, 7pm: An evening with Simon McCleave
Join us for an evening with multi million selling crime novelist Simon McCleave. His first book 'Snowdonia Killings' was released in January 2020 and soon became an Amazon bestseller, reaching No. 1 in the UK chart. 'The Dark Tide,' Simon's first book in the Anglesey based crime series, published by Harper Collins, was a major hit in 2022.
'Wirral Killings', is now available in libraries, soon to be followed by 'Abersoch Killings' later on in the year. The Snowdonia based book is now set to be filmed as a major new television series.
Tickets are £7 and are available via Ticketsource - an evening with Simon McCleave, Thursday 19 June at 7pm.
Refreshments will be available to purchase (cash only).

Thursday 1 May, 7pm: Weaver Words Fringe - an evening with Martin Edwards
Join us for an evening with crime writer Martin Edwards. Born in Knutsford, Martin truly complements the Weaver Word Festival theme, “A Celebration of Cheshire”. His award winning titles and literary accolades are definitely something to shout about:
Martin is the author of the Rachel Savernake books, which have been nominated for four awards; the most recent title is 'Hemlock Bay'. He has also written eight books featuring Liverpool lawyer Harry Devlin, and eight Lake District Mysteries, including 'The Coffin Trail', which was shortlisted for the Theakston’s Prize for best crime novel. His award-winning non-fiction includes 'The Golden Age of Murder' and 'The Life of Crime'.
If that wasn’t enough, we’re also looking forward to the publication of Martin’s next book ‘Miss Winter in the Library with a Knife’, due in September! We love a library themed thriller!! Come and hear all about it.
Tickets are £7 and are available at Frodsham Library and via Ticketsource - an evening with Martin Edwards, Thursday 1 May at 7pm.
Doors open at 6.30pm. The Curious Cat Bookshop will be providing books for sale, which Martin will be happy to sign.

Thursday 24 April, 7.30pm: Robin Ince: The Universe and Neurodiverse

Award-winning comedian, broadcaster, and author Robin Ince has spent over 30 years entertaining audiences on stage and radio, including the acclaimed The Infinite Monkey Cage on BBC Radio 4. But behind the laughter, Robin wrestled with self-doubt, anxiety, and the challenges of ADHD—challenges that he has transformed into creative fuel for his new show.
Join us for The Universe and The Neurodiverse, an evening of heartfelt stories, poetry, and humour, where Robin explores mental health, creativity, and what it means to embrace our uniqueness. Join Robin for a welcome return to Cheshire rural touring arts.
Thursday 22 May, 7pm: Local and Community History Month. Liverpool: Seven Stories from Seven Hills
Ken Pye's curious tour of Liverpool's, literal, 'High Spots', the Seven Hills of Liverpool. Like ancient Rome, Liverpool is built on seven hills. Discover which these are in this talk, and also hear special and remarkable tales from the history of each of them. These include ‘Pongo the Man Monkey’ and ‘The Sod House’; Prince Rupert and The Lost Treasure of Liverpool; the ancient community of thugs known as ‘Willaloo’; the incompetent captain who became a multi-millionaire; Wavertree Lock-Up; the Lepers of Ancient Childwall Hill; and the barbarian defenders of Camp Hill in Woolton. These are great stories from the high hills of a great city.

Saturday 19 April, 11am - 12pm: Curious Investigators : an interactive engineering adventure for young scientists.
Scribble and Clipboard have a job to do: sort the recycling. But Scribble keeps finding new things to investigate. When she discovers a mysterious egg hidden in the rubbish, the pair need the audience’s help to rescue an unborn chick. Can we save a mysterious egg from a smashing? And what will we discover along the way?
Curious Investigators is a cracking adventure created in collaboration with engineering experts from Lancaster University: a delightfully surprising, highly visual show for 3–7-year-olds and their grown-ups. And the investigations don’t stop there! This cracking adventure also comes with a bonus making session, where your little ones get to follow the actors’ lead and make their own scanners to take home with them.
