Public rights of way
Definitive map modification order applications
Definitive maps are the legal record of a public right of way. We are responsible for the definitive map. If a way is shown on the definitive map, then it is conclusive evidence of public rights along the way unless there has been a legally authorised change.
There may also be additional public rights over land which have not yet been recorded on the map or there may be rights which have been incorrectly recorded.
The definitive map can be amended by legal order if evidence of missing rights of way is discovered or to correct errors in previously recorded information.
