Direct Payments
How do I get a Direct Payment
You will need to be assessed by us as needing support under the Care Act 2014 (including a Financial Assessment).
To find out more about an assessment visit our How to get support page and to check what money you (the person needing the care) might have to contribute (a Financial Assessment will decide this) visit our Financial assessment calculator page.
You will need to take responsibility for managing the money (or have a nominated/ authorised assist you)

Authorised Person |

If you have mental capacity but need help managing the payment, you can choose a nominated person. This is often a trusted family member or friend. |
If you don’t have the capacity to manage the payment, an authorised person (someone with legal authority like a Lasting Power of Attorney) can do it for you. |
You will also need to have the ability (or a trusted person to help you) to arrange your care.
Carers
If you’re a carer, you can also get Direct Payments to support you in your caring role. This follows a Carer’s Assessment.
