Direct Payments
Overview
Direct Payments are a way for you to receive money directly to arrange your own care and support. This gives you more choice and control over the help you get. Instead of the council arranging services for you, you can decide what works best for you.
Direct Payments give you:
- More choice – You decide how to meet your needs.
- More control – You can plan care that works for you.
- Flexibility – You choose who helps you and when.
- Assistance with daily activities like household tasks, shopping, or cooking.
- Support to go out and do what you enjoy, meet friends, or attend appointments.
- Personal care such as washing, dressing, and other day-to-day activities.
- Activities to improve your wellbeing and social interaction.
- Equipment to make life easier, such as voice activated devices, screen readers, adapted furniture.
Your social care worker will help you plan how to spend the money to achieve your personal goals.
