What happens next?
We are looking forward to creating an accessible and welcoming Library and learning space. It is currently anticipated that the library will reopen to the public in 2026. Throughout the project we will share further details of the work that will be undertaken and progress here.
A design team has been appointed to work on the renovation project and plans for the renovation and development are currently being detailed before work begins again on site. A planning application was submitted in March 2025.
On 14 March 2025 a public drop-in session to share the plans for the building was held at the temporary library at Weaver Hall Museum. Information about planned external and internal changes and artists impressions of the library were shared with residents.
