Replacement Glazing Works
A comprehensive programme of works to replace the defective glazing within the Barons Quay development is on-going. We have worked hard to rectify these defects since they were identified, and the works are being carried out by Balfour Beatty under warranty.
The works to replace the glazing started on 22 July 2024 and are expected to be finished early October 2024.
The glazing is being replaced in the evening and overnight to minimise disruption to businesses, shoppers and visitors. Works will be carried out using cherry pickers to avoid the need for scaffolding. An external area adjacent to the ASDA travelator hall on Leicester Street has been fenced off during the works and is being removed as soon as is practicable.
Six disabled parking bays behind the Odeon cinema are now available again for public use, but some remain out of use. The disabled parking area had been unavailable to members of the public from 19 July 2024. This has been necessary as the location is the only suitable space for a safe site compound and laying out area for the replacement glazing. There is also alternative disabled parking in the town centre located at Barons Quay Car Park and Central Palace Drive Car Park.
