Transforming the Market Hall

This consultation relates to a planning application which will be submitted in December 2023 for the refurbishment of the market building itself and does not relate to the surrounding land.

The Levelling Up Funding covers three elements: Site Assembly, Active Travel & Public Realm, plus the Transformation of the Market. This consultation relates just to the Market element.

The site 

The proposal is to upgrade the existing Ellesmere Port Market Hall in the town centre, adjacent to the Port Arcades shopping centre, to provide new community, youth, entrepreneurial, and flexible events space and make significant improvements to the fabric of the building.

The building is a former Asda supermarket and was subject to refurbishment and demolition work in the mid- 2000s.
