Getting involved as a Council tenant
Together with ForHousing we are passionate about working with you to provide services that make a big difference to you and your community. Your involvement will help us make improvements to the services we provide.
How do we support you?
Our staff are here to help, support and provide any training you may need to help you get involved.
How much time does it take to get involved?
You can choose to be involved as little or as much as you like:
- five- ten minutes from the comfort of your home
- two - four hours for one-off activities
- one - four hours every three months for regular activities
- one - two hours as and when for any neighbourhood activities
How you can get involved
You can get involved:
- from the comfort of your home
- by taking part in one-off or regular activities in your neighbourhood
You can play an important part in influencing services from the comfort of your home by taking part in a survey.
You can choose a specific topic that is of interest to you such as:
- homes – from repairs to paying your rent
- neighbourhoods – from grounds maintenance to communal areas and caretaking
- tenant – from tenant services to how we communicate
- home ownership – from shared ownership, Right to Buy or leaseholder
You can play an important part in influencing services by:
- attending one-off activities or meetings
- attending a focus group, either online or in person on a specific service area
- mystery shopping. You can be a mystery shopper anytime between the hours of 8am – 6.30pm, Monday to Friday
If you have a little more time to spare, we have a range of regular activities that you can get involved in such as:
- Council Housing Management Board - you can be part of the Council Housing Management Board, which is an advisory body to the Council’s Executive
- Customer Experience sub-committee - you can oversee, influence, and support the delivery of housing services
- Governance, Audit and Scrutiny Management sub-committee - you can oversee, influence, and provide assurance to the Council Housing Management Board that the required legal/regulatory requirements around governance are met
- Building Safety tenant inspectors for our high-rise buildings - you can undertake regular safety inspections of our high-rise buildings, sharing feedback and helping us to ensure our high-rise buildings continue to provide safe and secure accommodation for our tenants
- Building Safety Forum for our High-Rise Buildings (online and in person) - you can meet with staff from ForHousing and help participate in the making of building safety decisions
- Complaint Panel - you can monitor complaint satisfaction to identify whether we are listening and understanding tenants’ views as well as help to ensure that services provided to our tenants continually improve
Our involvement opportunities include:
- neighbourhood walkabouts
- local activities in neighbourhoods
- improving local green spaces and community areas
- regeneration projects
We can help you to explore the many volunteering opportunities available to you in your local area.
