Drainage and flooding
Flooding in Cheshire West and Chester
Climate change is regarded as a factor in causing flooding and other extreme weather. Projections include a shift in the seasonality of rainfall.
This may lead to hotter, drier summers and wetter winters, with more extreme events such as heavy rainfall which can lead to flooding.
Flooding incidents within the borough are often responded to by different multi-agency teams. This includes some of our teams, the Environment Agency, United Utilities, Welsh Water and the Emergency Services.
If you live in an area identified at risk of surface water or river flooding you may be at risk of flooding, regardless of whether you have never flooded before.
The Government advice is for all property owners in flood risk areas to install flood resilience products in advance of flooding, create a flood plan and sign up to receive flood alerts.
Intense extreme rainfall events are becoming more frequent across Cheshire West and flooding is occurring to properties and business located within areas of surface water and fluvial flood risk.
