Providing the travel assistance that adults need

We aim to provide the appropriate travel assistance to meet the needs of people accessing our services whilst delivering a sustainable service. The Council is currently undertaking a review of the travel assistance received by those who are entitled to support.

The travel assistance allocated to people is reviewed periodically, in line with the current policy. This is to ensure that people are being allocated appropriate and sustainable provision. Sometimes, this may result a change to the assistance that they receive. We aim to provide consistency for everyone accessing travel assistance, but travel assistance arrangements may be subject to change at any time.

Please be advised that drivers and passenger assistants may change with little or no notice for many reasons including sickness leave, personal reasons, or service delivery. We appreciate that change can often be difficult for people, and where we can we aim to work with people accessing our service and partner organisations to make any transition as smooth as possible and minimise any disruption.

We will shortly be contacting people who access travel assistance where we believe there may be opportunities to provide more sustainable options that enable independence, whilst making sure that we are still providing travel assistance that is right for them.
