How to get Support
Next steps
After the social care assessment, a decision will be made about whether you are eligible for care and support. This decision will be explained to you. If you have needs and want the local authority's help to meet them, this will also be discussed with you.
If you do not wish to wait for the outcome of your assessment you can refer to Client finance for other support to fund your own care and support privately.
If you are eligible
If you are eligible for social care support, you will be referred to the Client Finance department for a financial assessment, to understand whether you will need to contribute towards some or all of the cost of the support. This will depend on your income and any savings you may have.
To lessen delays you can complete an online financial self-assessment, more information can be found on our Financial assessment calculator page.
