Care and Accommodation Options
Care at Home
We are committed to supporting people to Live a Great Life whereby people remain independent, living in their own home and their local community. Care at Home services is a borough wide provision which can be provided by Adults Social Care, pending a Care Act Assessment being completed which confirms a person’s eligibility for support, the needs they want to have met by the support provided and outcomes they wish to achieve. The Care Act (2014) Assessment process is our means to determine if a person is eligible to receive care and support from Adults Social Care. Those assessed as not eligible for Care under the Care Act (2014) will be supported and signposted to access information about other services within their local community.
Care at Home services means that a care agency will be involved with a person’s daily care and support needs. Care workers will call in to a person’s home and support in the required areas, adopting an enabling approach whereby a person can rebuild skills and reduce a reliance on hands on care interventions.
Care at Home Carers can support in areas such as personal care, medication prompts and guides, meal preparation support. Domestic Household support such as cleaning or food shopping cannot be offered by paid Carers however, we can support people to access support in these areas through third sector agencies and local Community Catalysts.
We will implement care at home support using contracted Care Agencies. There may be occasions where a person may wish to choose their own Care Provider or employ a specific person to be their Carer. In these instances, we may be able to offer a Direct Payment. This would mean that a person can receive allocated monies to purchase their care directly from the market.
Home Care can support with both short and long term changes in need and can also support you to access other services such as Community Equipment or Technology Enabled Care which can be a great alternative to receiving hands on care from Carers.
Care at Home can vary in price dependent on the level of support a person needs and where they live as rural areas in the borough can present travel time costs etc. For those funded by us, a Financial Assessment will apply which will determine what a person will pay for their care. For those that pay for their care in full, the rates of pay will be determined by the Care Provider and the person in receipt of care.
