You can pay your council tax online via our secure site.

Using this online form is the quickest and easiest way to pay council tax. Using the online form also helps the council save money.

Please note, if you have already set up payment by Direct Debit, this will continue automatically and no action is required.

Other ways to pay your council tax bill

Pay by phone

You can pay with most debit and credit cards using our 24 hour payment line: 0300 123 7029.

Set up a Direct Debit by phone

To set up a Direct Debit telephone 0300 123 7 022 between 8am - 7pm (Monday - Friday). Please have your bank account details to hand.

Set up a Direct Debit by post

Complete and return this Council Tax Direct Debit mandate form:

Pay at a Post Office

You can pay Council Tax over the counter at any Post Office. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or debit card. 
Remember to bring along your Council Tax bill, as it has a barcode the Post Office will need to scan.

Pay using PayPoint


You can pay your Council Tax (cash only) at a local shop or supermarket that displays a PayPoint sign. Remember to bring along your Council Tax bill, as it has a barcode that will be scanned at the PayPoint outlet.

Pay via internet banking, telephone banking or standing order

You may wish to set up a standing order though your bank. The details you will need are:

  • sort code 30-91-92
  • account number 02895329
  • your council tax account reference number

Alternatively, you can contact us and we will send you a Bankers order form.

Pay by cheque

Cheques can be sent to: Revenues and Benefits, PO Box 187, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire CH34 9DB 

Make cheques payable to: Cheshire West and Chester Council. We do not accept postdated cheques. Please make sure you quote your Council Tax Account reference.
