Pay your Council Tax
Council Tax support fund
Recognising the impact of rising bills, the Government announced additional support for households who are entitled to Council Tax Reduction with help towards their 2023/24 council tax bills. From April 2023 Cheshire West and Chester have used some of this additional funding to reduce Council Tax Bills by up to £25 for current Council Tax Reduction customers who still have some Council Tax to pay.
To maximise the support to Households a second Council Tax Support Fund payment will be made this Autumn. If your 2023/24 current Council Tax balance is more than £40, then there will be a discount of £40 applied to it, if your outstanding balance is £40 or less then it will be reduced to zero.
Who is eligible?
You are eligible for the additional support, if all of the following conditions apply:
- You are in receipt of Council Tax Reduction on 14 November 2023, and
- You have a balance of Council Tax to still to pay for 2023-24
There is no need to apply as the award will be applied automatically to your Council Tax bill. If you pay by direct debit the instalments you pay will be automatically reduced by the amount of help you receive.
If you are still struggling to pay your Council Tax bill, you may be able to apply for other help such as a hardship payment.
These awards are discretionary and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
