Tackling the Climate Emergency
Planted more than 57,000 trees in the borough through the Mersey Forest in 2022-23. This represents 7 per cent of all schemes in the national Trees for Climate programme and means the borough has the second highest number of schemes of any local authority in England.
Increased the number of public vehicle electric charging devices, taking the total in the borough to 116, or nearly 32 per 100,000 people.
Sent 57 per cent of waste to be reused, recycled or composted, which is higher than our 56 per cent target.
Provided community organisations with over £25,000 to fund projects addressing the Climate Emergency.
