Statutory Advocacy Engagement
This consultation is now closed.
Background
Advocacy is where people get support to help them speak up for themselves and get their voice heard. Advocates can also help find information and understand rights.
The Statutory Advocacy Service in Cheshire is commissioned by Cheshire East Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council and was consulted on before it was recommissioned and a new contract put in place from 1 September 2022.
What was consulted on
The consultation sought views and feedback on the delivery of statutory advocacy services from a broad range of stakeholders and the local community.
How the consultation was carried out
The consultation was open to all and ran from 19 October to 26 November via an online surveys and face to face meetings. People were also able to respond by email, letter or telephone. To increase awareness locally, letters were sent to people who had received advocacy support who may be directly affected by the recommission.
Consultation results and feedback
Based on client and other stakeholder feedback received, the new specification was developed taking the views into account. Areas within the specification that were enhanced were improved awareness of what advocacy us and how to access it, making sure advocates are visible in as many settings as possible, and ensuring communication with residents, hospital patients and staff is as clear as possible.
