Alley gating Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) consultation

This consultation is now closed.

Thank you to everyone who took part. The findings report is now available:

The findings were discussed by officers (Head of Service and Director) to help make an informed decision about the renewal of these PSPOs. The decision was made to renew all 14 individual Alleygating PSPOs for a further period of three years. Further details:

Background

In October 2014 the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 (the Act) introduced powers to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB), including the power to make Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs).

PSPOs can be used to regulate activities in public places that can have a detrimental effect on the local community. They can help by giving local councils and local police additional powers to tackle ASB in specified locations.

The 14 existing PSPOs for the installation of alley gates are due to expire in October 2023. In order to renew these PSPOs for another three years, the Council is required to carry out a review and we would like to hear your views on these Orders.
