Job applicants
The information supplied in your job application will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
By submitting it you agree to this data being accessed by Cheshire West and Chester Council for recruitment and selection purposes.
If appointed to the job you also agree to further personal information, including sensitive personal data (e.g. medical health, criminal convictions etc.) being held and processed by the Council for appointment purposes in accordance with the Act.
If not appointed your details will be deleted from the system after 12 months.
When individuals apply to work at the Council, we will use the information that you supply to us to process your application and to monitor, analyse and report recruitment statistics.
We retain anonymised statistical information about applicants to help inform our recruitment activities.
The Council has a duty to protect the public funds it administers and may use the information you have provided for the prevention and detection of crime, including fraud.
It may also be shared internally and with other organisations for these purposes and where the law allows.
Once a person has taken up employment with the Council, we will compile a file relating to their employment.
The information contained in this will be kept secure and will only be used for purposes directly relevant to that person’s employment.
Once their employment with the Council has ended, we will retain the file in accordance with the requirements of our retention schedule and then delete it.
The information supplied in your job application is stored on servers that are owned and maintained by Oracle within the European Economic Area (EEA).
When Oracle needs to transfer data outside of the EEA to the United States, to backup and maintain the data, this is covered under the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework.
Which is recognised by the European Commission as providing adequate protection for the rights of individuals in connection with the transfer of their personal data to signatories of the scheme in the USA.
