Unlocking sites for low-carbon homes
This project will unlock development of new homes over two main areas at Civic Offices and Coronation Road. The aim will be to assemble a number of sites to bring forward opportunities for developers to build new first-time buyer or family homes. The houses will be energy efficient and low-carbon.
The new and improved space for walking, wheeling and cycling, will support the increased footfall generated by these new residents. Local shops will benefit, and the project should help stimulate new town centre living which stimulates business growth such as opportunities for more cafes and potential evening activities.
A housing developers brief is being prepared. Housing developers will then bid through the CHEST, wwww.the-chest.org.uk which is the North West Procurement Portal. By registering business details on The Chest other opportunities can be unlocked for this project as well as other opportunities within Cheshire West and Chester and all other Local Authorities within the North West of England.
The sites are empty for a range of reasons, however primarily developers are looking for sites that can be developed with a greater quantum of housing. We are also looking for the development of low-carbon family homes with a high design specification which would need us to bring some sites together to make it attractive for developers.
As a result of the project residents will have greater access to a range of housing in close proximity to the town centre.
The project seeks to build on the sustainability of the town centre, providing a town centre which is attractive and vibrant
