Transforming Ellesmere Port Town Centre

The Council has successfully secured £13,378,478 from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities' Levelling Up Fund.

The project has three core elements

• Transformation of Ellesmere Port market hall
• Improved walking, wheeling and cycling links
• Bring forward sites for new housing

• Early planning stages - March 2023
• Consultation with market traders and shoppers - April / May 2023
• Car parking study carried out - May 2023
• Designs drawn for market hall improvements - Summer 2023
• Active travel route and plans public engagement - Autumn 2023
• Planning permission application - Autumn 2023
• Construction work starts enhancing the market hall building - Autumn 2024
• Start of construction of new active travel route to the town centre - Autumn 2024
• Completion of construction of new active travel route - Winter 2024/25
• Opportunity for new low carbon houses to be built - Summer 2025
• Market hall improvements completed - Summer 2025
