We have a wide range of eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, eNewspapers and eResources free of charge.

Our libraries are now fine-free for children aged 0 to 12 years so they will no longer be charged for any overdue items. Any pre-existing late charges have been removed from their accounts.

Resident Assistance Point

This building is equipped with technology to enable customers to access Council services. Staff are also on hand to provide guidance and advice.

Home Library Service

The Home Library Service provides library books and talking books directly to the homes of readers who are unable to collect their own items from a library. If you would like to use the Home Library Service, please ask a member of staff.

We’re always looking for new volunteers and there are a number of ways to help, from selecting items for customers, to driving and dropping off items at customers’ homes. Applications can be made via our Volunteering page. 

Regular activities

Monday

  • U3A Members Play Reading Group: 2pm - 4pm, first and third Monday of the month.

Tuesday

  • GoOnline with OPAL (Older People Active Lives): 10am - 12pm, first and third Tuesday of the month. General IT support including help with digital devices such as tablets and smartphones and also how to access library eResources such as BorrowBox (eBooks and eAudiobooks) and Libby (eMagazines).          Also get support with the NHS app. Learn how to order repeat prescriptions, find NHS services and book appointments via Patchs. Booking is preferred but drop in also available. Contact Fiona on 07923 425 239.
  • Knit and natter: 10.30am - 11.30am, weekly. Join us to knit or crochet squares for blankets, hats or scarves. Materials provided. Drop in.
  • Stories and rhymes for under 5s: 2pm – 2.30pm, weekly. Sing along to your favourite rhymes, listen to some great stories and make new friends. 

Wednesday

  • Diabetic eye clinic: every other Wednesday. By referral only. Letter sent to patient by practitioner. 
  • VIP social group: 10.30am - 12pm, second Wednesday of the month. Social group for visually impaired people, offering advice and support in a welcoming environment.

Thursday

  • Multiply (Weaver Vale Housing Trust): 10am—1pm, weekly. Support for adults (19+ years), to build confidence with numbers and get help with everyday life. Group sessions include – creating a household budget; cooking on a budget; energy advice; saving wisely and days out on budget.   • Raising Aspirations (Weaver Vale Housing Trust): 10am - 1pm, weekly. 1:1 support to help individuals progress in life and remove barriers. An action plan will be created, focussing on quality of life, self-confidence, health and wellbeing, finances, training, employment & volunteering    Must be 18+years and can be unemployed or employed and looking to upskill and increase their hours / wages. Friday

  • Creative writing workshop: 10am - 12.30pm, every 2 weeks. New members are welcome. For more information, phone 07549789747 or email stephen@together-one.org
  • Digital Support Session: 2pm - 3pm, weekly. Basic support with all things digital. Drop in.
  • Ward councillor surgery: 4pm  - 6pm, last Friday of the month. Come and speak to your local councillor about concerns and issues. 

Saturday

  • Lego club: 10.30am - 12pm, weekly. Come and be creative (term time only).

Where is the library? How do I get there?

Directions
From the traffic lights in Main Street with the Bears Paw on your right, continue along Main Street for approximately 350 yards. Then turn left into Fountains Lane signposted for Health and Leisure Centres. Follow the road and take the first left into Princeway, the library entrance is first left on the bend.

Shared with the Medical Centre and Brio Leisure Centre.

Disabled Parking
There are seven spaces and a drop off point.
