Flag Flying

Union Flag flying outside Chester Town Hall

To mark special occasions, Cheshire West and Chester Council may fly different flags outside Council buildings.

Flags are a symbol of national unity, respect, and honour and therefore the Council follows a strict protocol to maintain the value that flag flying represents. National and Local Government buildings are encouraged to fly the Union Flag all year round and other flags may also be flown to commemorate or celebrate national and local events or to mark specific dates in the calendar.

Further information can be found in the Cheshire West and Chester Council Flag Flying Protocol found at the bottom of this page.
