Repairs and improvements (Decent Homes Standard)
HomeKey+ help residents to identify and arrange for any necessary repairs and improvements to make sure they are living in reasonably modern conditions, which meets the government’s Decent Homes Standard.
Decent Homes Loan
Decent Homes Loans can help with essential repairs such as roof work, to fund heating systems, insulation measures or to update kitchen and bathroom facilities. Funding can also be used to remove any serious hazards such as serious dampness, dangerous stairs or electrical wiring which could affect your health and safety.
Before you make an application, a HomeKey+ Technical Officer will visit to assess your property to prepare a schedule of work, which will detail the works that are needed, and to work out a reasonable cost for the work to be carried out.
This means-tested equity loan is available from £1,000 to £40,000 for homeowners on low income who need to improve their home to bring it up to the government’s Decent Homes Standard.
Safe and Warm Grant
Safe and Warm Grants are available to pay for urgent repairs where there is a serious risk to health, safety and welfare. This is a discretionary grant for homeowners on low income, for work such as; serious electrical defects, serious disrepair causing extensive dampness or risk of structural collapse.
