Queens Park Suspension Bridge
Structures report
Following routine inspections of the 100-year-old bridge in spring 2023 a structures report was commissioned that has revealed issues with the metal work requiring immediate attention.
A full structural assessment is now underway.
Once we have the results of the full inspection, Structural Engineers will need to review this, and develop a design to address the issues identified.
Temporary scaffold
Temporary scaffold was installed in June to provide additional strengthening to ensure the bridge can remain open. We will be commissioning engineering solutions for the future conservation and repair work.
How often is the bridge inspected?
Regular inspections are carried out by our engineers, there were no issues discovered during the 2013 loading tests or the 2020 visual inspection. An inspection in 2023 resulted in a detailed structures report being commissioned after problems were seen on the bridge.
