Tributes pour in from across the Council in honour of HRH Queen Elizabeth II

Tributes have been paid by leaders of political groups across Cheshire West and Chester Council to commemorate the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Throughout the country, commonwealth, and world, people are sharing their condolences in recognition of a monarch who ruled for 70 years with compassion, loyalty and an immense sense of duty.
Flags throughout the borough are currently flying at half mast, buildings are lit up purple and condolence books and flower carpets are in place at major Council buildings and at Chester Town Hall, Chester Cathedral, Ellesmere Port Library and Northwich Memorial Court.
Deputy Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, Councillor Karen Shore, said:
On behalf of the Council's Labour Group, I offer my heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen was a remarkable woman who demonstrated the best of public service. She devoted her life to her country and fulfilled her duties with humility and dignity. The Queen was a constant for the nation for 70 years. As we mourn her passing we will remember her legacy as one of unwavering commitment and global inspiration. May the Queen rest in peace.
Leader of the Conservative Group, Councillor Margaret Parker, said:
Queen Elizabeth was a beacon of dignity, respect and humility. She was not just a monarch but an era. She brought the country together through good times and bad, she held the country and the nation to her heart, always putting us first during her 70 year reign. Queen Elizabeth was an inspiration to us all and she will continue to be so, through her son King Charles III. May she rest in peace with her beloved Philip. God save the King.
Liberal Democrat Group Leader, Councillor Paul Roberts, said:
Her Majesty has done an amazing job as our Head of State over more than 70 years, both at home and abroad. She will be very much missed and we are sure that King Charles III will also serve our country with great distinction. We wish him well.
Leader for the Independent Group, Councillor Gillian Edwards, said:
On behalf of the three independent councillors, we join with the country and the commonwealth on mourning the extremely sad passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II and extend our deepest condolences to the Royal family. The sense of loss is testament to the amazing service that she gave - our national treasure. Queen Elizabeth has remained a constant in a turbulent world, providing dedication and commitment through the clouds and sunshine of life - always retaining her core values and commitment as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A truly unique individual who always saw the kindness in people and instilled those virtues in her own life. May you rest in peace HM Queen Elizabeth 2, thank you for your unwavering service and may you be reunited with your Philip. God save our gracious King.
