Roof replacement works to begin at Winsford Library
Cheshire West and Chester Council has confirmed that roof replacement works at Winsford Library will begin on Monday 25 November, with scaffolding due to be erected next week.
The Library will remain open as normal during the works and disruption will be kept to a minimum wherever possible. The replacement works are due to be complete in the early new year.
Winsford Library has always played a key role at the heart of the town. It is fantastic that the works are being completed in such a way that the library can continue to remain open unaffected for people to use and enjoy. The library offers a varied collection of books, Wi-Fi and computer use, with lots of events and activities going on for people of all ages.

It is great news for the town that works on replacing sections of the Winsford Library roof will now take place, making an already cherished library fit for the future. They are taking place alongside the first phase of the Council’s ambitious regeneration of Winsford Town Centre, showing Cheshire West and Chester Council’s continued commitment to Winsford. Changes to public shopping habits mean modern town centres must be about more than retail. Modern town centres are also about culture and providing community hubs for learning and creativity, which is precisely what the Council is supporting with this work.
Winsford is a thriving and vibrant place to live, work, learn and play, and the Council has committed to funding ambitious projects and developments as part of its vision for the town. The first phase of the Council’s ambitious regeneration of Winsford Town Centre is underway and is the biggest investment in the town centre shopping area since the 1960s, made possible by the Council’s acquisition of the site in 2018. The investment in roof replacement works at Winsford Library is part of the long-term strategy to revitalise the town centre through retail and culture.
A new Costa drive-thru unit opened in May this year and a new B&M superstore will open in 2025.
