Vivo's services at Dover Drive have been accredited by the National Autistic Society

Vivo Care Choices’ Specialist Autism Service at Dover Drive in Ellesmere Port has been accredited by the National Autistic Society (NAS) following a recent visit.

An in-house service at Cheshire West and Chester Council, Vivo provides a range of support for people with learning disabilities and autistic people, including those at Dover Drive.

NAS is a charity that transforms lives and changes attitudes to help create a society that works for autistic people.

As part of NAS’ offer, it runs an Autism Accreditation programme, the UK’s only autism-specific quality assurance programme of support and development for all those providing services to autistic people.

Following a recent visit, the service at Dover Drive has now been accredited by NAS for the support being provided to autistic people.

The report highlighted how staff have developed positive and trusting relationships with autistic residents, are sensitive to individual needs and preferences and adapt their support in line with this.

Councillor Sheila Little, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said:

This is an excellent achievement for Dover Drive to sit alongside the current ‘Good’ rating with the Care Quality Commission.

The findings from NAS’ visit are overwhelmingly positive and there are always things we can do to continue developing and improving our services.

The team at Dover Drive support people with some of the most complex needs and it’s clear to see that they do everything they can to support each person’s individual preferences.
