Cheshire West and Chester's Public Rights of Way team has completed improvements on a timber boardwalk along a public footpath in Mollington.

The work has been carried out on the footpath that runs between Grove Road and Townfield Lane in Mollington.

The previous 20 metre structure was made of timber and over time had started to lean severely to one side.

As well as the leaning structure, the timber deck boards were becoming slippery and potentially hazardous for people to walk on.

Due to the location and the size of the structure it was decided to replace the timber with glass reinforced plastic (made from recycled materials) that will give the structure a much longer life than timber.

The deck boards are also anti-slip that should provide a better surface for walkers.

The Council's Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member of Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, Councillor Karen Shore said:

Our PROW team is working hard to maintain our network of public rights of way. The end result at Mollington looks wonderful and I’m delighted we continue to use sustainable materials where we can.
