Cheshire West Community and Voluntary Arts Awards 2025

The Council is supporting Cheshire West Voluntary Arts Network to recognise individuals or organisations making a difference to their community through the arts.

For its eighth year the event will celebrate the sector with an Awards Evening at the end of April 2025 in St Mary’s Creative Space, Chester.

Councillor Lisa Denson, Cabinet Member for A Fairer Future (Poverty, Public Health and Mental Health), said:

We know that there are lots of inspirational groups and dedicated individuals supporting the arts across the borough.  Arts projects can do so much for local communities including; supporting member’s health and wellbeing, raising funds for charities and bringing joy. 

Now is the time to nominate your projects, organisations, leaders and volunteers to celebrate their achievements, please nominate who you think should receive an award this year.

A previous attendee of the Awards said that it was, “A truly wonderful evening.”

Another who won an award shared, “I would just like to thank CWVAN for a wonderful event. We had such a lovely time and were very honoured to have actually won an award.“

This is an opportunity to shout about the tremendous work going on across the borough. Groups and individuals can nominate themselves or they can be nominated by others.

The categories are:

  • Children & Youth Arts
  • Performing Arts
  • Visual Arts
  • Music
  • Unsung Hero (that person who is always working away in the background, continuously supporting a group / project)
  • The David Woods Award for Outstanding Contribution (a special award to a group or individual who has made an outstanding contribution to their community through the arts)

The Outstanding Contribution award is dedicated to the memory of the founding chairman of CWVAN. It recognises his passion, energy, and dedication to promoting the arts and their value to communities.

The deadline for applications is 9am, Monday 7 March 2025
