A Resounding Success for the Drama Llamas Production of ‘Cinders’
On the 23 January 2025 the Drama Llamas new production of ‘Cinders’ was released. The amateur theatre group wrote, produced, acted and even made their own props for the amazing pantomime.
Councillor Sheila Little, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care attended the pantomime and said: “I really enjoyed it and haven’t laughed as much for a long time”
The Drama Llamas are a group of adults who use the facilities at the Healthy Living Centre (HLC) in Ellesmere Port. The Adults, who have a range of learning disabilities, formed the drama group to write and produce productions for the local area.
The ‘Cinders’ production took eight months to write and produce, with 14 staff and users of the HLC services involved. It was a spectacular success with the production receiving some fantastic reviews and feedback. Some of the attendees said:
“That was brilliant, so much fun”
“One of the best panto’s we’ve seen”
“Everyone should be really proud of what they achieved, everyone was top notch, and I loved how everyone was involved”
The whole team worked extremely hard throughout the preparation and the performances; the Drama Llamas themselves have commented:
Ben from Drama Llamas said “It was good fun. We laughed a lot when we were practising, and all had a good time on Thursday when everyone was watching. We played games in between the plays and had tea from the chippy”
Anne said “I loved being a princess. Thank you to all the staff who helped us learn our lines and practice with us. They were all good in it as well”
Keep an eye out for more productions this year on the Cheshire West and Chester Council’s social media sites.
“It truly was an incredible achievement, brilliantly written and performed and simply an immense amount of fun and joy from the first to the last moment. The audience (and the performers) loved every moment of it. The props were wonderful too and made the whole experience so magical and such a professional production”
