A day to celebrate volunteering

Cheshire West and Chester Council and Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA) are working together to hold a Volunteering Fair at Chester Town Hall on Saturday 9 September 2023.

Taking place from 10am to 1pm, the event will be an ideal opportunity for local organisations to showcase their opportunities and residents interested in volunteering to find something right for them.

As Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Sheila Little is holding the Volunteering Fair with the support of Council teams and CWVA.

It will tie in with Emergency Services Day on 9 September, a chance to show support for NHS and emergency services.

It’s important we recognise our volunteers and encourage more people to support their local communities.

While volunteers have always made a real difference, they were arguably in the spotlight more than ever before during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Not only will this event be a chance for people to find volunteering opportunities, but our amazing community organisations will be able to showcase what they have to offer.

It should be a fantastic day for everyone involved and I’d encourage as many organisations and volunteers as possible to be part of it.

We’re delighted to be hosting this event in partnership with the Council.

Local community organisations provide such invaluable services and volunteers play a key role in them.

We need to continue promoting the importance of volunteering and make it as easy as possible for people to find something that suits their interests.

Volunteering can come in all shapes and sizes, whether you’re looking to volunteer regularly or simply give a small amount of time to fit in with your other commitments.

Any potential volunteers looking for opportunities are welcome to turn up to the event on the day to see what’s on offer, while organisations will need to book a stall.
