Licence summary
To operate a public weighbridge, you require a certificate of competence issued by the Chief Inspector for Weights and Measures for your local authority.

Application evaluation process
Once your application is received an Officer will contact you to make an appointment to visit you.
Will tacit consent apply?
No. Your certificate will only be issued when you have satisfied an Inspector of Weights and Measures that you are competent to use public weighing or measuring equipment.
Target completion
You can expect to be contacted by us within 14 days of receipt of your application. We would normally expect to let you know our decision on your application within six weeks of receipt.

Please contact us in the first instance. You may appeal to the National Measurement Office if your application is refused.
