Your bin collection
Reusing old boxes
The old recycling boxes will not be collected when you receive your new bins. These boxes come in handy around the house and can be used for several other things, such as:
- car boot, shed and garage storage
- storing your tools
- growing vegetables or herbs
- weeding the garden
- making a composter or wormery
- creating a sandpit and water entertainment centre for the grandchildren
- a hedgehog or bug hotel
- storing your Christmas decorations
- recycling small electricals, batteries, spectacles, printer cartridges and mobile phones alongside your red and blue lidded recycling bins
- a lid makes a great potting station, it keeps the soil in one place
- a lid can be used as a tray for plants in your greenhouse
- use the lid when you are weeding your garden, it makes it easy to tip the unwanted weeds into your composter or green bin for collection
If you really do not want to keep your recycling box, you can take it to your nearest recycling centre where it will be sent to be recycled.
