Early years and childcare
Overview
On these pages you will find useful information on early years funding and eligibility criteria for two, three and four year old places, to support parents, carers and childcare providers. This includes: how to claim your child’s free place, what you and your child will get out of a free entitlement place, setting up as a childcare provider offering these free places or any other support regarding eligible two, three and four year old funded places.
Our partner site, Live Well Cheshire West, is also available and accessible to parents, carers, settings, childminders and EYFS staff in schools. Here you will find further information, practical ideas, useful resources and links to research, books and guidance to support child development during the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Research and evidence show us that the earliest years are the most critical stage in a child’s development, as they provide the foundations for health and happiness into adulthood.
Attending a quality childcare setting, supports children’s social and emotional development, and has the biggest impact on their outcomes, including developing the skills that will enable your child to be ready for school and laying the foundations for lifelong learning.
Our School Readiness Leaflet provides you as parent and/ or carer with practical ideas and ways that you can support your child at home, working in partnership with your childcare setting. These activities will make a difference to your child’s learning before they start school in reception.
