Remembrance Sunday and Commemoration Events

Overview

At a time when we remember the fallen in past conflicts and for other significant local occasions, it is recognised that these events can sometimes attract significant audiences to pay their respects.

In most cases these will be pre-planned and outdoor gatherings which could take place round a memorial or other local monument.

While these events may have taken place for many years, they do need to be managed and coordinated to ensure the safety of the people attending.

This area of the website aims to outline the responsibilities of event organisers and details the processes which will need to be followed for any Remembrance Sunday and Commemoration Events in the borough.

Event organiser

There may be events in some local communities where there is no identified organising group or person to lead the planning and delivery of the event.

Identifying an organising group or lead person will help give clarity to the event and it is this organiser who would be the point of contact for us to discuss arrangement with and have the event approved.

Once an organising group or lead person has been appointed, they will need to apply by the closing date. The same applies to an existing organising group or lead person.
