The vision for the A56 Leisure corridor project is to develop a sustainable offer for Leisure, Health and Wellbeing services across the A56 Corridor area which focusses on increasing participation and reducing health inequalities.
Frodsham Leisure Centre
Cheshire West and Chester Council, together with Brio Leisure, are fully committed to improving facilities co-located with the Library in the current location at Frodsham.
To help inform emerging plans, we have already completed:
- community & stakeholder consultation/ engagement
- a leisure needs analysis
- assessment of usage and trends
- a building survey & identification of energy efficiency options
- a feasibility study looking at a long list of options and potential funding
- a series of community engagement events and drop in day in Autumn/winter 2024
- exploration of options including co-location/demand for upper floor usage - this has shown that refurbishment of upper floor is not viable
The Council have set a revised budget of £4.5m to create a modern, vibrant and fit-for-purpose leisure, health and wellbeing facilities at Frodsham Leisure Centre, attached to the existing Sports Hall and Library. The objective is to create a fully accessible and welcoming space to build on the already strong levels of Brio membership, range of classes and sports clubs already using the facility, to further support and improve the health and wellbeing of the local community.
Ellis Williams Architects have been appointed to take forward development and emerging designs will be shared with the community in early summer 2025.
